Philip John McMahon

Philip John McMahon, 84, native of New Orleans and resident of Houma, died at noon on Monday, Sept. 28, 2015.
He was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Philip was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School and LSU Law School. He then served in the United States Army, 3rd Infantry Division, and is a Korean War veteran.
He was a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He was a member and chairman of the Judiciary Commission of Louisiana and served on the Board of Directors for the Regional Military Museum in Houma. He was also a board member and past president of the Terrebonne Parks and Recreation (TPR), past president of the Terrebonne Quarterback Club, served on the Board of Directors for Coastal Conservation Association (CCA), and a was past member of the Terrebonne Parish Bar Association. Philip practiced law as an attorney at the McMahon and McCollum Law Firm.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Wilson McMahon; three sons, Webster McMahon and his wife, Vickie, Neal McMahon and his wife, Michelle, and Philip McMahon and his wife, Lynn; two daughters, Sharon McMahon Mailey and her husband, Jim, and Susan McMahon Palmer and her husband, Matt; two brothers, Dan McMahon and his wife, Polly, and John McMahon and his wife, Barbara; a sister, Nancy McMahon Pecot and her husband, Charles; and nine grandchildren, Justin, Matthew and Andrew Palmer, and Mallory, Peyton, Taylor, Philip, Mary and Julie McMahon,
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry George McMahon and Neenah Webster McMahon; a brother, Henry George McMahon; and a granddaughter, Genevieve Mailey.
Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, from 8:15 a.m. until service time at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. A Mass will be held Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. There will be a private burial at St. Francis De Sales Cemetery #2 at a later date.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Miss Roslyn the staff at Southeast V.A. Home in Reserve, and recognize Elmay Hotard for her many years of dedicated service. The family would also like to thank Ersula Jones for all her support and care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Regional Military Museum located at 1154 Barrow St., Houma LA 70360.
