Funeral services for Donna “Sue” Smith will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, 2015, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers in Jena, with Rev. Brandon Poole officiating. Interment will follow in the Jena Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, and from 8 a.m. Friday until the time of services at Hixson Brothers.
Mrs. Smith, 68, of Jena, was born Jan. 15, 1947, in Urania, and passed from this life Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.
Mrs. Smith was a retired dispatcher from Century Tel. She loved to read, fish, and spend time with family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Gary Lynn Smith and wife, Diane, of Fordyce, Arkansas, and Benny Smith and wife, Gwen, of Jena; daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Nelson of Morgan City; brothers, Ronald Sellers and Joe Sellers, both of Jena; sisters, Pam Wolford of Jena, and Judy Beavers of Georgetown; grandchildren, Trent Williams and fiancée, Katie Bergeron, Laini Williams and Sarah Williams, all of Morgan City, Jennifer Smith of Euless, Texas, Daniel Smith and wife, Allison, of Crowley, Texas, BJ Smith of Jena, Capt. Hunter Smith of Killeen, Texas, Amber Deville of Las Vegas, and Meagan Deville of Fort Worth, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Francille Esters Seller; husband, William O. “Sonny” Smith; and daughter, Cheryl Deville.
Serving as pallbearers will be Trent Williams, Daniel Smith, BJ Smith, Hunter Smith, Vince Stapleton and Jack Powell.
