JAMES 'JIM' ALLAN TIERNEY

James “Jim” Allan Tierney, 71, a resident of Bayou Vista, passed away Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at Patterson Healthcare Center.
James was born on April 21, 1944, in Oak Park, Illinois.
James served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army, serving his first tour of duty in Europe during the Vietnam War and his last tour of duty in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot.
During his early years after service, James was an avid pilot, holding a license for fixed wing aircraft. He enjoyed traveling with his wife to many places throughout Europe, Canada, Mexico and the United States. James was a collector of many things. He enjoyed spending time fixing and making things for his family and others around him. He was a caring and giving person who will be missed by many.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Mercedes Moore Tierney of Bayou Vista; daughter, Traci Landry and husband, Joshua, of Bayou Vista; granddaughter, Valentine Landry; two brothers, Jerry Tierney and Jeff Tierney; one stepbrother, Pete Bratlie; and one half-sister, Lynne Beiler.
James was preceded in death by his mother, Myrna Peters Bratlie; stepfather, Harold Bratlie; and grandmother, Florence Peters.
James will be entombed in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
