Police Reports 1-12-16
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
Jeremy Landry, 27, of 11050 La. 182, Franklin, was arrested Monday at 9:01 a.m. on a warrant charging him with cruelty to animals. On Jan. 5 a deputy responded to a complaint of animal cruelty at a residence in the Franklin area. Upon arrival, the deputy reportedly located a deceased dog in the yard. With the assistance of a Humane Society animal cruelty investigator, it was determined that Landry allegedly failed to provide proper care for the animal. Landry turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin and was released on a summons.
Darrell Colbert Jr., 48, of 505 AB Martin Road, Jeanerette, was arrested Monday at 10:21 a.m. on a warrant charging him with simple battery and simple assault. A deputy investigating a complaint of a battery that occurred at a residence in Jeanerette gathered evidence that Colbert allegedly pushed a female victim and struck her in the face and head several times. During the confrontation, Colbert reportedly made verbal threats on the victim and her family’s lives. He was released on $750 bond.
Roland Alfred, 35, of 1031 La. 318, Four Corners, was arrested Monday at 2:47 p.m. on charges of home invasion and aggravated battery. Deputies responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a residence in Four Corners and reportedly learned that an altercation had taken place between two male subjects. Deputes located both subjects and detained them. During the course of the investigation, deputies determined that Alfred allegedly walked through the open front door of a residence and struck a male victim in the head with a handgun during an ongoing argument between the two. Alfred was released on a $9,000 bond.
Kenneth J. Alfred, 42, of 1210 Canal Road, Bayou Vista, was arrested Monday at 5:28 p.m. on a failure to appear warrant on charges of direct contempt, speeding and failure to honor a written promise to appear. He was released on $365 bond.
Narcotics Division agents arrested Michael Young, 21, of 1818 Gay Drive, Franklin, and Drizzt Morales, 19, of 214 Chauvin Drive, Franklin. Young was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and Morales with possession of marijuana. Both were released on summons.
Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the arrest of Carl Short, 44, of Sterling Road, Franklin, Monday at 1:24 p.m. on a warrant charging him with telephone harassment. Short allegedly sent the victim several messages stating he was going to cause bodily harm to the victim. Short was held on $1,000 bond.
