(UPDATED) DOUGLAS PYE

Douglas Joseph Pye, 65, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans.
Doug was born Sept. 7, 1950, in Morgan City, the son of Eugene and Ruth Reynaud Pye.
Doug was a very faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he served as a catechism teacher, Eucharistic Minister, and usher for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 1373 where he served as Grand Knight from 1996-2000.
Doug served the City of Morgan City for many years, working at the police department for 12 years as a jailer and working for the sign department for 15 years.
Doug loved spending time with his family, especially spoiling his grandsons. Doug could often times be found sitting in his recliner watching old western movies, Gunsmoke, Bonanza or his favorite movies, My Cousin Vinny and Shawshank Redemption.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 43 years, Marilyn LaCoste Pye of Morgan City; two sons, Michael Pye and wife Heather of Shreveport, and Jason Pye and wife Rebecca of Morgan City; two grandsons, Dylan Michael Pye and Riley Douglas Pye, both of Shreveport; two granddogs, Budrick “Buddy” James Pye and Jasmine “Jazzy” Elizabeth Pye; and three brothers, Anthony Pye, Jerry Pye and Charles Pye, all of Morgan City.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Pye and Ruth Reynaud Pye; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul LaCoste Sr. and Agnolia LaCoste.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Ochsner Medical Center Neuro Intensive Care Unit in New Orleans for the wonderful, loving care that they gave to Doug.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Crochet III, Paul LaCoste III, Jerry LaCoste Jr., Daniel Yonge, Janada Price, Phillip Dural, Tommy LaCoste and Jason Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Dylan Pye, Kenneth LaCoste Jr., Bonnie Duval and Anthony Falgout.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Greg Fratt celebrating Mass. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. today, Monday, May 23, 2016, at Twin City Funeral Home.
The visitation will resume Tuesday, May 24, 2016, from 9 a.m. until Mass time at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Following Mass, Doug will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
