Alwin Adam Tabor
September 15, 1922 - September 29, 2015
Alwin Adam Tabor was born on Avoca Island, Sept. 15, 1922, to the late Phillip and Ellen Tabor. Alwin, a lifelong resident of Amelia, passed away at Thibodeaux Regional Medical Center at the age of 93.
Alwin worked for Humble Oil, St. Mary Parish School Board and St. Mary Parish Water District. Alwin was a proud World War II Navy veteran, serving in the Atlantic. He was a very dedicated family man; he loved family gatherings and visiting with them all. Alwin will be sadly missed by all who loved this wonderful man.
Alwin leaves behind his children, Michael Tabor and his wife, Judy, of Slidell, Sharon Boudreaux and her husband, Mike, of Amelia, Brian Tabor and his wife, Elizabeth, of Bayou L’Ourse’, Trudy Tabor of Amelia, and one stepson, Louis Hebert of Lafayette; a brother, Charles “Buck” Tabor of Amelia; a sister, Evelyn Rhodes of Patterson; his grandchildren, Stephanie Johnson, Brent Tabor, Craig Tabor, Chantel Ohmer, Lee Boudreaux, Aaron Boudreaux, Jarred Tabor and Brooke Darnell; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous relatives and friends.
Alwin was preceded in death by the two loves of his life, Emelda Lee Tabor and Gladys Keller Hebert Tabor; his parents, Phillip and Ellen Tabor; two siblings, Vallie Boudreaux and Murphy “Bud” Tabor; and a stepson, Kenneth Hebert.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015, at Hargrave Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at St. Andrew Catholic Church from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church. The East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad will conduct full military honors with a 21-Gun salute and presentation of the American flag. Alwin will be laid to rest in the St. Andrew Mausoleum.
