Bernard Freeland Levy

Bernard Freeland Levy, 64, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, and a resident of Houma, Louisiana, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, at 7:30 a.m.
Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 9, 2015, from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home Inc., 5899 Hwy. 311, Houma. Burial will follow at St. Francis No. 2 Cemetery in Houma.
Bernard is survived by his wife, Barbara Marx Levy; one son, Bernard Freeland Levy Jr. and fiance’, Isabelle Yves Tabor; two daughters, Marion Levy Larke and husband, Jeffrey Rome Larke, and Anna Levy Plaisance and husband, Michael Paul Plaisance Jr.; two brothers, Stephan Edward Levy and Scott David Levy; four sisters, Martha Elizabeth Levy, Katherine Levy Strom and husband John Strom, Lisa Levy Menard and husband Sonny Menard, and Mary Frances Levy Templeton and husband Ben Templeton; and three grandchildren, Haley Elizabeth, Elizabeth Carol Larke, and Elise Catherine Larke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan Levy and Elizabeth Freeland Levy; and a son, Nathan Isaac Levy.
Bernard was a 35-year public servant of Terrebonne Parish. He served his community as an attorney, public defender and child advocate.
He enjoyed fishing, horses, and spending time with his family, friends, and K-9 companions Lucy and Heather.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and CASA of Terrebonne.
