BETTY VERRETT PELICAN

September 24, 1942- December 21, 2015
EUNICE — Our hearts are heavy as we have lost a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend, Betty Verrett Pelican, on Dec. 21, 2015, at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center at the age of 73.
A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice. Burial will follow in the St. Andrew Cemetery with Father Tom Voorhies officiating.
She was a homemaker and devoted her heart and soul to her home and family. She was a great cook, gardener, baker and she loved to sew.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her two sons, John Pelican Jr. of Basile and Joshua Kirkland of Louisville, Kentucky; her daughter, Flora Howell of Duralde; three brothers, Douglas Verrett of Bayou L’Ourse, Donald Verrett of Mobile, Alabama, and Russell Verrett of Bayou Vista; three sisters, Anna Olivier of Eunice, Judy Cochran of Toledo Bend and Patricia Vice of Bayou L’Ourse; six grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Pelican Boone; a son, Maxell Pelican; and three siblings.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015, from 11 a.m. until time of services.
