CHARLOTTE CAMILLE “CHARLIE” DEGRAVELLES LEBLANC

Charlotte Camille “Charlie” deGravelles LeBlanc, a native and former longtime resident of Franklin, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her four children, at Grace Home at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria at the age of 78 on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, just two days short of her 79th birthday.
Charlie was a graduate of St. John Academy and earned a Home Economics degree from SLI (now ULL). She was an inspiration and a living example of her Catholic faith to all who knew her. She travelled the world with her husband and family and was a woman of many talents. Her life was one of devoted service to her husband, her children and grandchildren and her extended family. She was affectionately known as “Gran” to her grandchildren with whom she loved to spend time and share her knowledge.
Survivors include her four children, Alida L. Dwyer of Birmingham, AL, Randolph LeBlanc III and his wife Colleen of Baton Rouge, Paul LeBlanc and his wife Peggy of Pineville, and Larry LeBlanc and his wife Robbie of Centerville; her three sisters, Abbie deG. McNulty and her husband T. Frere, Jeannette deG. Piette, and Renee deG. Stirling and her husband Tom; sister-in-law, Jane deGravelles and brother-in-law Patrick Bertrand; eight grandchildren, Kathleen Lavallee and her husband David, Claire Vath and her husband Stephen, Alexander LeBlanc and his wife Janet, Anne Hallett and her husband Richard, Charles LeBlanc, Andre Sasser and her husband Joshua, Aleisha DeMars and her husband Chase, and Rachel LeBlanc; eight great grandchildren, Ellie, Jack, Cate, Hazel, Luke, Reed, Hunter, and Emma; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Randolph “Randy” LeBlanc, Jr.; her parents, Percy Joseph deGravelles, Sr. and Abbie Marin deGravelles; two brothers, Percy Joseph “Pete” deGravelles, Jr. and Robert “Bob” deGravelles; two sisters, Marin deG. Piette and Mary deG. Moreau; sisters-in-law, Pat deGravelles and Celeste LeBlanc Bertrand; and brothers-in-law, Larry Piette, Sam Moreau, Michael Burke, and Charles LeBlanc.
A memorial Mass celebrating Charlie’s life will be Friday, October 2, 2015, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Centerville, with visitation with the family from 8:30 a.m. until time of service, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10:30 a.m.
