Duane Anthony Pennison

Duane Anthony Pennison, 50, a resident of Nikiski, Alaska, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, at his home.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at the North Star United Methodist Church in Nikiski. Pastor Janice Carlton will officiate. A potluck reception will follow the service downstairs at the church.
Duane was born Feb. 10, 1966, in Morgan City, Louisiana. He moved to Alaska in 1974 and attended school. He graduated from high school and attended tech school in welding and auto body repair. He moved to Louisiana in 1987 and lived there until 2000. He returned to Alaska in 2006 and remained in Alaska until his death.
Duane enjoyed cooking and canning, fishing and making different sausages with wild game.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leo A. Pennison Jr.; grandparents, Joe and Louise Barras, and Leo and Pearl Pennison Sr.; and stepdaughter, Amaya Blanco.
Duane is survived by his mother, Victoria Johnson of Nikiski, Alaska; son and daughter-in-law, Leo and Katlin Pennison; grandson, Kayden Pennison, all of Chino Valley, Arizona; brothers and sister-in-law, Kevin Pennison of Kenai, Alaska, and Scott and Deni Pennison of Nikiski, Alaska; his wife, Cheryl Pennison-Blanco of Patterson; nieces, Cassie, Alexandra and Tori; nephews, Devin and Andrew; and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins in Alaska, Florida and Louisiana.
