ESTHER COLLINS GOWAN

August 20, 1936 — September 7, 2015
Esther Collins Gowan, a native of Grady County, Georgia, and a resident of Morgan City, went home to her heavenly reward on Sept. 7, 2015, at the age of 79.
Esther was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed her family, especially during the holidays. She was known to cook for days in preparation. No one could assist as she did it all with a smile on her face and joy in her heart.
Esther leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 61 years, Gayle Gowan of Morgan City; sons, Mike and wife, Lisa Gowan, of Morgan City and Mark W. and wife, Julie Gowan, of Bayou Vista; daughter-in-law, Tonya Gowan; grandchildren, Justin Gowan and Yvonne Graves, Mark E. Gowan and wife Brandy, Nick Gowan and wife Samantha, Ashley Gowan Neuville and husband Clyde, Kelsey Gowan and fiancé James Butts and Carly Gowan; great-grandchildren, Micah, Gabrielle, Priscilla, Brooklyn, Collin, Aidan, London, Jessica, Anndraia, Malachi and Greyson; and sisters, Jean Singletary, and Helen Cobb and husband Joe.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Sr. and Audry Collins; son, Mitch Gowan; brothers, Earl Jr. Collins and Willard Collins; and brother-in-law, Earl Singletary.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, at Hargrave Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.
Services will be conducted by her grandson, Mark E. Gowan, and son, Mark W. Gowan, at 11 a.m. Esther will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum with her son, Mitch.
