Leelan Palmature
November 6, 1939 - September 27, 2015
Leelan Palmature, a lifelong resident of Morgan City, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sept. 27, 2015, at the age of 75.
Leelan retired from Halliburton as a wireline operator after more than 30 years of service. In his leisure time, when not involved in the lives of his family, Leelan enjoyed bass fishing and gardening. He will be sadly missed by all those who loved him.
Leelan leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 42 years, Catherine Jones Palmature of Bayou Vista; daughters, Sheila Winters of Morgan City, Pam Buford of Bayou Vista, and Jessie Blanchard and husband, Craig, of Golden Meadow; sons, Charles Buford of Houston and Chip Buford and wife, Chastity, of Centerville; a sister, Joann Holliman of Morgan City; a brother, Tony Palmature and wife, Shelly, of Diamondhead, Mississippi; grandchildren, Daniel Winters and wife Shane, Matthew Winters and fiancé Lauren, Halie Buford, Kennidy Adams, Christian Arias, Mylee Buford, Olivia Buford, John Buford and wife Amanda, Brandon Buford and wife Ashlin, Amber Gassiott and husband Matthew, Carlos Buford, Hannah Monceaux and husband Joe, Joseph Aucoin and wife Cadrel, Stefanie Billiot, Christopher Blanchard and wife Laurie, and Jeremy Blanchard; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Leelan was preceded in death by his father, Elphese Palmature; mother, Eva Murphy; brother, Darral Palmature; and son-in-law, David Winters.
Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015, at Hargrave Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home. Leelan will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
