MELVIN J. BODIN

July 21, 1943 - March 28, 2016
Melvin J. Bodin, a native of Franklin and a 45 year resident of Baldwin, passed away at his home at the age of 72 on Monday, March 28, 2016.
Melvin was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard of LA. In his earlier years he enjoyed boating and fishing with his wife. Some other favorite pastimes included dancing, camping, RVing, and riding his motorcycle. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his children, Mark A. Bodin and his wife, Sheila; Derrick A. Bodin Sr., and Jolinda A. Latham; three grandchildren, Derrick A. Bodin Jr., Brandon D. Latham and Karla A. Latham; his brother, Gabriel Bodin Jr. and his wife, Joy; his sister, Bonnie Bodin Thompson; and his mother-in-law, Pearl Lenz.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Singleton Bodin; and his parents, Gabriel Bodin Sr. and Violet Concienne Bodin.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, April 1, at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Memorial services will begin at 5 p.m., with Deacon Jerry Bourg officiating.
