ROY JOSEPH VAUGHN
January 25, 1923- November 5, 2015
Roy Vaughn, 92, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, at his residence.
Roy was born on Jan. 25, 1923, in Morgan City, the son of Dewey Vaughn and Amelia Vaughn.
Roy was a kind-hearted and gentle man who knew the value of working hard and providing for his family. He strived on a daily basis to teach and pass down his love of life to his family; they adored their father. He enjoyed dancing and telling stories up to the end of his life’s journey here on earth. One of Roy’s greatest joys was seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and be a part of his life. He will always be loved and missed by all who knew him.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his three daughters, Mary Vaughn of Pierre Part, Betty Hebert and husband, Harry, of Amelia, and Darlene Gros of Morgan City; one son, Jerry Vaughn and wife, Juanita, of Morgan City; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Eugene Vaughn of Plaquemine and Russell Vaughn of Bayou Pigeon.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Vaughn and Amelia Berthelot Vaughn; his wife, Enola Hebert Vaughn; two daughters, Annie Vaughn and Eve Vaughn; two brothers, Ory Vaughn and Ira Vaughn; and one son-in-law, Michael Gros.
A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015, at Twin City Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church beginning at 11 a.m. Roy will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Mausoleum in Pierre Part.
