SHIRLEY PONTIFF MOREAU
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church for Shirley Moreau, 86, the former Shirley Pontiff, who passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Opelousas General Medical Center North in Opelousas.
Interment was in St. Leo the Great Cemetery in Leonville.
Musical selections were provided by Nichole Hatten, accompanied by Sharee Hunter on the organ. The songs were Ave Maria, Hail Mary Gentle Woman, Amazing Grace and On Eagle’s Wings.
Mrs. Moreau was a native of Patterson and a resident of Port Barre. She retired with the St. Landry Parish Registrar of Voters Office after 27 years of service. Mrs. Moreau was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Dale Moreau and his wife, Nanette; and Robert “Bobby” Moreau Jr. and his wife, Stacey, all of Prairieville; five daughters, Connie Deranger and her husband, Gerald, of Leonville; Cindy Lieux and her husband, Larry, of Arnaudville; Karen Guidroz and her husband, Bobby, of Opelousas; Carla Savage and her husband, Kenneth, of Arnaudville; and Loris Maddie and her husband, Russell, of Leonville; two brothers, Donovan Pontiff and his wife, Evelyn, of Franklin; and Gilfred Pontiff Jr. of Jeanerette; 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilfred Joseph Pontiff and the former Hazel Marie Delaune; and her husband Robert Frank Moreau Sr.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday and continued from 8 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday.
Pallbearers were Brad Guidroz, Dustin Guidroz, Willie Godchaux, Joshua Lavigne, Gavin Guidroz and Chris Thompson.
