WILBERT 'RABBIT' VINING

April 9, 1935 — October 22, 2015
Wilbert “Rabbit” Vining, 80, a native of Berwick and resident of Patterson, passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, at Teche Regional Medical Center.
Rabbit was a dedicated family man who taught his family the value of hard work and persistence. He cared about his family, friends and people in general, while never meeting a stranger.
Rabbit was well-liked and was looked up to for advice by many. He was an avid commercial shrimper and master carpenter. Rabbit will be remembered for his kind heart and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Rabbit is survived by his wife, Lucille Vining of Patterson; four sons, Wayne Vining Sr. of Patterson, Terry Vining and wife, Shelia, of Morgan City, Timmy Vining of Patterson and Tommy Vining of Sachse, Texas; one daughter, Gail Driskill of Berwick; one brother, James Besse of Stephensville; one sister, Gail Lancon of Bayou L’Ourse; eight grandchildren, Dennis, Amy, Denise, Wayne Jr., Amber, Skye, Sarah and Charles Jr.; and nine great-grandchildren.
Rabbit was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Lorena Vining; and a daughter, Betty Jo Driskill.
There will be a Memorial Graveside service Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum in Patterson beginning at 11 a.
