Wildon “Billy” Paul Gros Sr.

Wildon “Billy” Paul Gros Sr., of Amelia, went home to be with the Lord Sept. 28, 2014, at the age of 75, after a brief illness.
Billy was born Feb. 20, 1939, in Four Mile Bayou. Billy regularly attended Sunday Mass at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Amelia.
Billy was a commercial fisherman all his life. He took pride in his garden, growing the best tomatoes, cucumbers and squash around.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Ann Champagne Gros; three sons, Wildon (Laura) Gros Jr., of New Caney, Texas, Bryan (Cindy) Gros, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Leon (Teri) Gros of Berwick; a daughter, Gwendelyn Rose Robicheaux, of Bayou Vista; sisters, Vernice (Alden Sr.) Verrett, of Bayou Vista, and Jeanette (Charles) Collier, of Bayou L’Ourse; five grandsons; six granddaughters; two great-grandsons; and three great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Lulelia Gros; brothers, Roland, Lovelace and Etienne (EJ) Gros; sisters, Hazel Adsit and Clara Fryou; granddaughter, Lacie Nakoa Robicheaux; and grandson, Marcus Leon Gros.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at the St. Andrews Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial following at noon. Billy will be laid to rest in the St. Andrews Mausoleum in Amelia.
