St. Mary AARP holds February meeting

St. Mary AARP held its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 1 at the St. Mary Senior Citizens Center in Morgan City.
Meal co-sponsors were Twin City Funeral Home and Patterson State Bank. A chili supper followed by king cake was served to the 230 members in attendance.

St. Mary AARP is in the midst of its 2016-17 membership drive that began in January. More than 900 people have signed up as of Feb. 1. Dues are $12 per person for the two-year period. Call the AARP office at 985-384-2277 for details. Office hours are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
AARP President Bill Darce announced that the trip to Nashville scheduled for April had to be canceled due to poor participation. Other planned trips still available are Tunica/Memphis in June, Mackinac Island Michigan in August, Pigeon Forge in October and Branson in November. Deposits are being accepted.
Darce also announced that St. Mary AARP was in need of more board members and asked the membership to consider volunteering.
