Alvin Lewis of Patterson has been arrested in connection with a drug-related shooting that occurred shortly before midnight in Patterson Wednesday night that sent two men to the hospital, Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle said.

LaSalle said the arrest occurred about 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

An accomplice, Johnell Dyer, also of Patterson, is sought, LaSalle said.

Eric C. Haney, 29, who was shot in a car, was taken by Acadian Ambulance to Teche Regional Medical Center early Thursday morning with injuries to his left shoulder and pelvis, LaSalle said.

LaSalle said the second occupant of the car, Brent Charles, 32, of Morgan City, subsequently went to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound which grazed him.

LaSalle expected Dyer would be arrested Thursday.

Both men are involved in the shooting have extensive criminal histories, LaSalle said.

Two bullet holes are on the vehicle’s door and back seat window. The back seat window and driver’s window were also knocked out, which LaSalle said was caused by two more bullets. At least four rounds, maybe six, were shot, he said.
