Mildred ‘Poonie’ McGuire-Jenkins

Mildred “Poonie” McGuire-Jenkins, 73, a native of Morgan City and resident of Houma, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014. at Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma.
Visitation will be Friday at First Corinthian Baptist Church, 1114 Church St. in Houma, from 8 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Southdown Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Roger Short and Terry Short, both of Houma; two daughters, Lorie Lee Short, of Kenner, and Yolanda Coleman, of Marrero; seven sisters, Bernita McGuire, of Gibson, Patricia Jones, of Morgan City, Rose Singleton, of Patterson, Paulette Randall, of Napoleonville, and Rosetta Watson, Brenda Bonnet and Sylvia McGuire, all of Houma; a brother, Paul McGuire; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, her parents, one sister and five brothers.
