Morgan City’s Conner Daigle gets around Patterson’s Billy Jack Caldwell to advance to second base safely during Morgan City’s 14-3 victory at the Double AA (7-8-year-old) District 3 Tournament at Caffery Park in Franklin Thursday, while Patterson’s Zeph Brinlee covers second base. Area play will continue this weekend when St. Mary Central takes on Thibodaux at 5:30 p.m., followed by Patterson meeting Franklin at 6:45 p.m. On Saturday, St. Mary Central will face Morgan City at 10 a.m., followed by Thibodaux and Patterson at 11:30 a.m. Franklin will face Morgan City at 1 p.m. and the tournament will conclude with St. Mary Central meeting Patterson at 2:30 p.m. Look for a recap of the tournament’s games in Monday’s newspaper. Patterson Garden Club presented Torrie Eaton with its May Yard of the Month award. Eaton’s yard is landscaped with snapdragons, begonias, Aztec grass and sweet potato vines.
